CEVA – Centre of Education and Research Abbott

CEVA, established in 2008, is a shared project of the Charles University - Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Hospital Klatovy (Klatovská nemocnice, a.s.) and Abbott Laboratories.

CEVA is an internet application with the following basic aims:

• Propagation of latest scientific knowledge and research findings in laboratory diagnostics
• Professional consultations for laboratory test results interpretation
• Providing educational materials (texts, lectures, bibliography reference, etc.)
• E-learning
• Application research support and professionals cooperation in the Czech Republic

Educational materials are created by specialists methodically led by qualified consultants.

CEVA project allows asking consultants and their colleagues scientific questions.

CEVA courses are divided by topics. Currently the following courses are available:

• Cardio-markers - Laboratory diagnostics in cardiology (Tutor: prof. MUDr. Jaroslav Racek, DrSc.)
• Thyroid markers - Laboratory diagnostics of thyroid diseases (Tutor: MUDr. Richard Pikner, Ph.D.)
• ARCHITECT and AxSYM - analytical systems (Tutor: Ing. Miroslav Zábranský)
• Abbott Diagnostics News (Tutor: RNDr. Jan Trbušek, Ph.D.)
• MOODLE - E-learning courses (Tutor: Mgr. Martin Navrátil)

Currently, number of modules and several scientific materials of CEVA project are being developed. Additional sections will be implemented during the year 2009 and further expanded in the future. New topics coming soon: infectious serology, hematology, tumor markers, etc..

CEVA project is IT supported by OVAVT (Computer Technology Education and Application Department), Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen department.

All materials are available in Czech. English translations are being considered for the future.
